Of all of the ‘revival’ styles created in the 19th century, the colonial revival is probably the most ubiquitous. Seen in virtually every town in the country it is what most people think of as the most American style of architecture.

The style known as French Provincial, meaning literally ‘from the provinces’, is one of the more rare styles in America. The cause of this is directly based on our country’s history. Long before the revolution, the French and British vied for control of the Americas.
